Revolutionising Agriculture: Jammu & Kashmir’s Ambitious Plans to Transform the Sector

Provision has been made in the budget of Jammu and Kashmir to transform agriculture and allied sector, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. In the coming five years, I would like to say this with great responsibility that the plans which Jammu and Kashmir has made regarding agriculture and allied sectors, no state has ever made. You will not see such plans in any of the states of the country which are today called developed states, including Punjab and Haryana, LG said. I want to say this with responsibility that the contribution of Jammu and Kashmir in agriculture will be reflected two-and-a-half times more in agricultural GDP. Employment will also be created. What we lacked, we used to import meat, and we did not have fodder. This time there is a bumper production of mustard. Around 13 lakh families are associated with agriculture and allied sectors, LG said. We all know that there are 2 lakh 62 thousand such families who are marginal farmers. In our policy, our topmost priority first of all is changing the lives of Marginal Farmers, LG Manoj Sinha stated.
