PM Awas Yojana: J&K Provides Government Land to Eligible Beneficiaries, Ensuring Housing for All

Many people came to meet me personally saying we are eligible and our name is there in the PM Awas Yojana list but we don’t have land, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. Then we decided that people who are eligible for PM Awas Yojana who do not have their own land, we will give them government land. In the rest of the states of India, there is such a law, there is also a system. But that system wasn’t here in J&K so we made it the law. Accordingly, 2,711 people under PM Awas Yojana eligible candidates were given 5 marlas land. Secondly, around 47,000 houses are there for SC ST candidates. The population of tribal communities is more in the ST category. The Bakarwals are landless. In the government statistics available, there are 8,000 such Bakarwals who are eligible in PM Awas Yojana. We have accommodation for them in the Tribal Plan. They do not have land, we will give them land too, LG stated. Every decision should not be seen through political prism, said the Lieutenant Governor. I can understand some people’s pain, LG said. Those who believed that government land and government property should be used by some people and by their families, people should understand that times have changed, LG pointed out. The Honourable Prime Minister has started a campaign to make the poor, farmers and unemployed youth strong in India. And Jammu and Kashmir is also with that mission, LG stated. The Jammu & Kashmir administration is taking all the decisions for the welfare of the poor on the instructions of the PM, LG Manoj Sinha affirmed.
