Women Farmers Day was celebrated at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mallanpora, Pulwama, to recognise the valuable contribution of women to agriculture and promote their empowerment through modern farming practices and entrepreneurship. The programme focused on creating awareness among women farmers about new opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors. Participants discussed the importance of gender equality, skill development, and providing women with better access to modern agricultural technologies. Speakers highlighted that women play a vital role in agricultural activities, including crop cultivation, horticulture, and dairy production. However, their hard work and contribution often remain unnoticed. The event aimed to recognise their efforts and encourage greater participation in agriculture-related businesses. Women farmers were also advised to understand market prices before selling their produce to improve their earnings and profitability. Adopting modern techniques and exploring market opportunities can help them become financially independent. The programme further emphasised skill development through activities such as tailoring, knitting, mushroom cultivation, and apiculture (beekeeping). These initiatives can help women generate additional income and establish their own enterprises. The celebration highlighted the importance of empowering rural women through training, technology, and entrepreneurship. By strengthening their skills and providing better opportunities, such initiatives can promote self-reliance, improve rural livelihoods, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development in Jammu and Kashmir.
