LG Manoj Sinha Calls for Upholding Gandhi’s Ideals of Truth, Non-Violence and Unity

 

Gandhi Jayanti was observed on October 2 with heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. On the occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called upon people to remember and uphold the timeless ideals of truth, non-violence, self-reliance, cleanliness and inclusive development. Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha said that October 2 is more than a date on the calendar, as it provides an opportunity to reflect on Mahatma Gandhi’s values and their relevance in contemporary society. He highlighted Bapu’s emphasis on education, dignity, justice and the courage to stand against injustice. The Lieutenant Governor also congratulated the toppers of the district-level symposium on “Truth and Non-Violence”, wishing them a bright future and encouraging the younger generation to carry forward the principles of the nation’s great leaders. He called for a collective resolve to build an India that is strong yet sensitive, modern yet connected to its roots, prosperous yet just, and above all, united. He also conveyed his greetings to the people on Gandhi Jayanti and urged everyone to contribute towards the continuous growth and prosperity of the country. The occasion served as a reminder that Gandhi’s ideals remain relevant in the pursuit of a peaceful, prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and a developed India.
