Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the closing ceremony of the 11th Mega Eye Surgical Camp under Operation Drishti in Srinagar, highlighting the dedicated efforts of the Indian Army and Armed Forces medical teams in bringing advanced eye care to people in Jammu and Kashmir. Across the Srinagar and Tangdhar camps, medical teams performed a total of 364 vision-restoring surgeries. At the Tangdhar camp in Kupwara, 220 people underwent surgeries over two days, including cataract, complex retinal and glaucoma procedures. The camp was conducted in challenging border conditions, with specialised medical equipment airlifted to the location and an underground operation theatre used for surgeries. The Srinagar camp accounted for 144 surgeries. Patients from Tangdhar, Khawarpara, Bagbella, Yangdar and surrounding villages received services ranging from screening and diagnosis to treatment and post-operative support. LG Manoj Sinha commended the doctors, medical personnel, pilots, ground staff and soldiers involved in the initiative, describing their efforts as an example of service, courage and commitment. According to the LG, Operation Drishti has nationally screened more than 1.5 lakh people and facilitated over 3,500 surgeries. The initiative demonstrates how coordinated planning, modern medical technology and dedicated healthcare teams can extend specialised treatment to people living in difficult and remote areas.
