Ensuring that the person standing at the very back of the social order—the poorest of the poor—receives medical treatment and access to better healthcare facilities… I believe there can be no greater program, campaign, or scheme than serving the poor, these are the words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking on Ayushaman Golden Card An elderly from Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir recounted how while after having sehri he went to the garden near the Jama Masjid and fell down and a small girl helped him to reach home. For one month he took medicines from SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. Then the doctors referred me to another hospital where my surgery took place. I came home after the surgery. Had my Golden Card not been there then where would have my children got the money for my treatment, asks the elderly man. All the money was provided by the government. This is a good scheme by the Government. The Government gave Rs 3 lakh for my surgical treatment. If we had to sell our property even then we could nott have afforded Rs 3 lakh. The Golden Card is excellent for both the rich and the poor. The Modi government has done a lot for the poor. His wife said thankfully he had the Golden Card because of which he is sitting here today otherwise we would have been in deep trouble. She thanked the Modi Govt for this life saving health scheme.
