Budgam , August 19,2026- DLIC Budgam approves 230 cases verified by the Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) under Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan), in a significant push towards boosting employment opportunities for youth across the district. The decision was taken during a meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC), Budgam, chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan.
The meeting was convened specifically to examine and approve applications submitted by young aspiring entrepreneurs under Mission YUVA, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among youth by extending financial assistance, handholding and capacity-building support for establishing and sustaining viable business ventures across Jammu and Kashmir.
Committee Clears All Verified Applications
During the meeting, the committee thoroughly examined the applications placed before it and approved all 230 cases that had been duly verified by the SBDU, paving the way for eligible beneficiaries to avail the financial and institutional benefits available under the scheme. Officials noted that the timely clearance of these applications marks an important step in translating the objectives of Mission YUVA into on-ground outcomes for the district’s youth.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging young people to pursue self-employment and entrepreneurship, thereby creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and contributing to local economic growth and employment generation in Budgam district. By extending structured support at every stage, from application to business establishment, the scheme seeks to reduce dependence on traditional employment avenues and instead cultivate a culture of enterprise among the district’s youth population.
DDC Stresses Timely Processing and Coordination
Speaking on the occasion, the Chair emphasized the importance of Mission YUVA in fostering entrepreneurship and generating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth of the district. He stressed the need for timely processing of cases and coordinated efforts among all stakeholder departments to ensure effective and seamless implementation of the scheme at the grassroots level.
The DDC further underlined that speedy disposal of applications was essential to maintaining the momentum of the scheme and ensuring that eligible young entrepreneurs are not left waiting to access funds and support needed to launch their ventures. He directed officials to continue close monitoring of pending applications and to expedite verification processes wherever feasible, so that the benefits of Mission YUVA reach beneficiaries without unnecessary delay.
Wide Departmental Participation
The meeting witnessed participation from a wide cross-section of departments involved in implementing the scheme. It was attended by the General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC) Budgam; Joint Director Planning, Budgam; Deputy Director Employment, Budgam; District Social Welfare Officer, Budgam; District Nodal Officer, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI); and Lead District Manager (LDM), besides other concerned officials.
The presence of officials from planning, industries, employment, social welfare and banking sectors underscored the multi-departmental nature of Mission YUVA, which relies on convergence between various government agencies and financial institutions to successfully support young entrepreneurs from the application stage through to business establishment.
With 230 fresh cases now approved, the scheme is expected to give a considerable boost to self-employment avenues in Budgam, reinforcing the district administration’s broader push towards youth-led economic development and job creation. Officials indicated that further review meetings of the DLIC would continue to be held periodically to ensure sustained progress under the scheme and to clear additional applications as they are verified by the SBDU.
