Centre approves ₹5,630 crore under NCSS for industrial development in J&K

Kashmir, August 10,2026- The Centre has allowed the utilisation of ₹5,630 crore under the New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS) to support industrial development in Jammu and Kashmir, providing a major boost to investment, manufacturing and employment opportunities in the Union Territory.

Under the decision, eligible industrial units currently on the waiting list will be allowed to receive registrations, enabling them to avail benefits under the industrial incentive framework.

The move is aimed at facilitating the expansion of industrial activity in J&K and supporting businesses that meet the eligibility criteria under the NCSS.

The government has also clarified that the total financial liability under the scheme will not exceed ₹28,119 crore. The financial framework is intended to ensure that incentives remain within the approved overall liability while allowing eligible industrial units to benefit from the scheme.

The development is expected to provide greater certainty to investors and industrial entrepreneurs awaiting registration and strengthen the UT’s emerging industrial ecosystem.

The NCSS for J&K is part of the Centre’s broader efforts to promote investment, generate employment and accelerate sustainable industrial growth in the region.
