Ramban, July 30,2026- The 23rd batch of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra successfully crossed Chanderkote in Ramban district on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on Thursday, continuing its journey towards the revered Holy Cave Shrine amid comprehensive security arrangements and seamless logistical support.
The convoy, consisting of pilgrims travelling in escorted vehicles, moved through the Chanderkote transit point under a multi-layered security cover provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), traffic police, and other security agencies. Officials monitored the movement closely to ensure the safe and smooth passage of devotees heading to the sacred shrine.
Chanderkote serves as one of the key transit points for pilgrims travelling from Jammu towards the Kashmir Valley. Every convoy passing through the area is escorted under strict security protocols, with authorities implementing route sanitisation, surveillance, traffic regulation, and emergency preparedness measures to facilitate the annual pilgrimage.
Officials said security personnel remained deployed at strategic locations along NH-44, while surveillance teams continuously monitored the convoy’s movement. Traffic management plans were implemented to minimise disruptions and ensure that pilgrims reached their designated base camps safely before proceeding towards the Holy Cave Shrine through the traditional Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of India’s most revered Hindu pilgrimages, attracting lakhs of devotees every year who undertake the spiritual journey to pay obeisance at the naturally formed ice Shivling inside the Holy Cave Shrine, situated at an altitude of nearly 3,880 metres in the Himalayas.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of this year’s Yatra. Security remains one of the highest priorities, with round-the-clock deployment of police and paramilitary personnel, advanced surveillance systems, convoy escorts, and regular route inspections. In addition, medical teams, ambulances, disaster response units, sanitation workers, and emergency assistance centres have been positioned along the pilgrimage routes to provide immediate support whenever required.
Authorities have repeatedly urged pilgrims to travel only as part of authorised convoys, follow official advisories, and cooperate with security personnel throughout the journey. Devotees have also been advised to remain updated on weather conditions, carry essential medicines, and strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by the administration.
The successful movement of the 23rd batch reflects the coordinated efforts of civil administration, security agencies, healthcare workers, and volunteers working together to ensure a safe, secure, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
