DC Kulgam reviews preparations for 79th Independence Day celebrations

Kulgam, July 27,2026-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the 79th Independence Day celebrations 2026, directing all departments to ensure smooth, coordinated, and impactful celebrations across the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the arrangements being made by various departments and emphasised meticulous planning to ensure that the national event is celebrated with enthusiasm, dignity, and public participation. Department-wise responsibilities were assigned to ensure seamless execution of all activities leading up to and during the Independence Day function.

Officials discussed key aspects of the celebrations, including venue arrangements, security measures, cultural programmes, sanitation, healthcare facilities, traffic management, electricity and water supply, seating arrangements, emergency response mechanisms, and overall coordination among departments.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officers to complete all assigned tasks well in advance and maintain close coordination to avoid any inconvenience during the celebrations. He stressed the importance of showcasing the spirit of patriotism while ensuring that all necessary civic amenities are available at the venue.

Special emphasis was laid on organising cultural performances by school students, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply, and putting in place adequate medical and emergency services. Departments were also directed to make comprehensive arrangements for public convenience and ensure that the celebrations reflect the district’s commitment to national unity and development.

The meeting concluded with directions to all stakeholders to work in close coordination and ensure the successful and grand celebration of the 79th Independence Day across Kulgam.
