Jammu, July 24,2026- The 15th Union Territory (UT) Shooting Championship is being held in Jammu from July 23 to July 27, bringing together nearly 200 young shooters from eight districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The championship serves as a key platform to identify emerging talent and prepare athletes for national and international competitions.
The event is jointly organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association and the Youth Services & Sports Department. Competitions are taking place across shooting ranges in Gandhinagar, Paloura, and Nagrota, where participants are competing in various rifle and pistol events.
Speaking about the championship, Rajesh Vedi, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the J&K Rifle Association, said the tournament is designed to nurture promising shooters from the Union Territory and provide them with opportunities to compete at higher levels.
He noted that the championship plays a significant role in identifying talented athletes who can represent Jammu and Kashmir in national championships, international competitions, and eventually prestigious events such as the Olympic Games.
The championship is expected to encourage greater participation in shooting sports across the region while strengthening the grassroots sports ecosystem through competitive exposure and professional training opportunities.
