Shri Baba Buddha Amarnath Yatra likely to begin on August 17 in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch

Jammu, July 15,2026- The annual Shri Baba Buddha Amarnath Yatra, one of the prominent religious pilgrimages in the Jammu region, is likely to commence on August 17 this year in the border district of Poonch, officials said.

The 12-day-long pilgrimage is expected to witness the participation of thousands of devotees from across the country, who will visit the revered Baba Buddha Amarnath Temple located in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district. The shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, holds immense religious significance and attracts pilgrims every year during the holy month of Shravan.

Preparations are underway to ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra, with the administration expected to put in place comprehensive arrangements for security, transportation, healthcare, sanitation, accommodation, and other essential facilities for pilgrims.

Authorities are also likely to coordinate with various departments, security agencies, and local volunteers to ensure the pilgrimage is conducted in a safe, peaceful, and hassle-free manner.

The Shri Baba Buddha Amarnath Yatra is regarded as one of the major spiritual events in the Jammu region and plays an important role in promoting religious tourism in the Pir Panjal region. Besides its spiritual significance, the annual pilgrimage also provides an economic boost to local businesses, transport operators, shopkeepers, and hospitality services in Poonch.
