Rajouri’s daughter makes history, becomes first girl from district to join Merchant Navy

Rajouri, July 13,2026-In a remarkable achievement for Jammu & Kashmir, 18-year-old Tanvi Sharma has become the first girl from Rajouri district to join the Merchant Navy, setting an inspiring example for young women across the region.

Hailing from a village located near the Line of Control (LoC), Tanvi’s journey from a border area to a career at sea reflects determination, perseverance, and the growing opportunities available to youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
