I pray to Mata Vaishno Devi that the young army of new officers will carry on the tradition of good governance and sensitive and quality based public service, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha handing over appointment letters to the newly inducted recruits of JKAS, JKPS. He advised the newly appointed civil servants to contribute to accelerate development from the point of view of equality and social justice. And hoped that they will consider it paramount to protect national interests. The biggest responsibility of civil servants is to protect the Constitution of India, LG said. And the second big responsibility is to decide in the interest of the common man. Here all the 177 new appointed officers of JKAS, JKPS and JK Account Services have been selected from the State Service Commission. The way the Public Service Commission has worked in Jammu and Kashmir is praiseworthy. After receiving a vacancy from the Commission it publishes advertisements in newspapers in just 24 hours. Addressing the new officers he said after the last candidate’s selection in your batch, the results were declared within three hours. This is a historical event of the country. A lot of reforms have been made in the Public Service Commission like salary system, surgeon’s appointment, among others. No one has raised any objection. The system has been made transparent in such a manner that I can proudly say this is what was needed, LG said. The Jammu and Kashmir administration is commended for achieving that goal. I request all of you to formulate and execute policies keeping in mind the person standing at the end of socio-economic development. Whatever challenges arise I think you will be successful, Lieutenant Governor said wishing them luck.
