Kashmir Ahead

Over 1 lakh devotees offer prayers at Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine in first five days of yatra

Srinagar, July 8,2026- The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 has crossed a significant milestone, with over one lakh devotees offering prayers at the revered Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine during the first five days of the pilgrimage, reflecting an overwhelming response from pilgrims across the country and abroad.

The pilgrimage has witnessed an unprecedented influx of devotees despite challenging terrain and changing weather conditions. Pilgrims have been reaching the holy cave through both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes under extensive security arrangements and comprehensive logistical support provided by the administration.

Meanwhile, the largest batch of the Yatra so far, comprising 8,815 pilgrims, including 31 foreign nationals, departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu on Tuesday morning amid tight security. The convoy was escorted by security forces as it proceeded towards the Kashmir Valley, where pilgrims will continue their journey to the sacred cave shrine of Lord Shiva.

Authorities have urged unregistered pilgrims not to proceed towards the Yatra base camps, stating that all registration slots are fully booked until July 9. Officials advised devotees without valid registration to postpone their journey and undertake the pilgrimage only after securing the necessary permits to ensure smooth crowd management and the safety of all participants.

The administration has reiterated that elaborate arrangements, including multi-layered security, medical facilities, sanitation services, emergency response teams, accommodation, and traffic management systems, are in place to facilitate a safe and seamless pilgrimage.

Officials have appealed to pilgrims to follow all advisories, carry valid registration documents, and cooperate with security and administrative personnel throughout the Yatra.
