Srinagar, July 8,2026- A ‘Walk for a Drug-Free Kashmir’ was organised in Srinagar on Tuesday morning with the aim of creating awareness among young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to lead healthy, addiction-free lives.
The awareness walk witnessed the participation of students, youth, civil society members, volunteers, and officials, who marched together carrying banners and placards promoting the message of a drug-free society. Participants called for collective action to combat the growing menace of substance abuse and emphasised the importance of education, awareness, and community involvement in preventing addiction.
The rally highlighted the need for families, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and law enforcement agencies to work together to protect young people from falling prey to drug addiction. Speakers at the event stressed that awareness campaigns play a vital role in empowering youth to make informed choices and stay away from narcotics.
Organisers reiterated that the fight against drug abuse requires sustained public participation and urged the youth to become ambassadors of positive change by spreading awareness within their communities.
The event concluded with a pledge by participants to support efforts aimed at building a healthier, safer, and drug-free Kashmir while encouraging individuals struggling with addiction to seek timely help and rehabilitation.
