Srinagar, July 8,2026- A robust multi-layered security grid has been put in place for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra 2026, covering the entire pilgrimage route from the Navyug Tunnel in Jammu to the holy cave shrine of Baba Barfani in the Kashmir Himalayas.
The elaborate security arrangement has been designed to ensure the safe, secure, and hassle-free movement of thousands of pilgrims undertaking the annual pilgrimage. Security forces from multiple agencies have been deployed at strategic locations along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, maintaining round-the-clock vigilance throughout the Yatra.
Officials said security personnel are conducting continuous surveillance through checkpoints, vehicle inspections, area domination patrols, and quick response teams to safeguard pilgrims at every stage of the journey. Advanced monitoring systems, including CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring in sensitive areas, and real-time coordination between security agencies, have further strengthened the security framework.
The deployment begins from the Navyug Tunnel and extends across the National Highway, base camps, transit camps, trekking routes, and finally to the holy cave shrine, ensuring comprehensive protection for devotees.
Authorities have also established joint control rooms and emergency response mechanisms to deal with any unforeseen situations. Medical teams, disaster response units, traffic police, and civil administration are working in close coordination with the security forces to facilitate smooth movement and provide immediate assistance whenever required.
The annual pilgrimage has witnessed a significant turnout this year, with thousands of devotees arriving daily from different parts of the country to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva at the revered shrine. Officials have appealed to pilgrims to follow advisories, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to designated routes and timings for a safe pilgrimage.
