JAMMU, July 5, 2026- A fresh batch of over 6,700 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu on Saturday to undertake the sacred Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. The convoy, comprising hundreds of vehicles, left for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam amid comprehensive security arrangements.
The pilgrims, filled with devotion and enthusiasm, chanted religious slogans such as “Bam Bam Bhole” and “Har Har Mahadev” as they began their journey to the holy cave shrine nestled in the South Kashmir Himalayas. Security personnel escorted the convoy along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, with multi-layered security measures in place to ensure the safe passage of devotees.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration, in coordination with the police, security forces, health departments, and disaster response teams, has made extensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. Facilities including medical assistance, sanitation, accommodation, traffic management, and emergency response services have been strengthened along the Yatra route.
Officials have urged pilgrims to adhere to the issued advisories, travel only with valid registration, and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage. The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra continues to witness a steady influx of devotees from across the country, reflecting unwavering faith in Lord Shiva and the significance of the annual pilgrimage.
