Padma Shri Awardee Brij Lal Bhatt honoured for Social service and cultural revival in Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, June 24,2026- In a moment of immense pride for Jammu & Kashmir, Honourable President Smt. Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious Padma Shri upon veteran social worker Shri Brij Lal Bhatt at Rashtrapati Bhavan in recognition of his outstanding contribution to social service, community welfare, and cultural revival.

Widely regarded as an “Unsung Hero” of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Brij Lal Bhatt has dedicated decades of his life to preserving the region’s spiritual and cultural heritage while promoting peace, social harmony, and national integration. His tireless efforts in community welfare, youth empowerment, and interfaith dialogue have earned him national recognition and widespread admiration.

Under his leadership, the Nagdandi Ashram in Anantnag has emerged as a vibrant center of Sanatan Dharma, advancing the ideals of Swami Vivekananda on “man-making and nation-building.” The Ashram has played a pivotal role in reconnecting displaced Kashmiri Hindus with their roots through cultural, educational, and traditional initiatives while fostering a spirit of unity and coexistence among different communities.

Shri Bhatt has also been instrumental in promoting direct civil society dialogue between various religious groups, contributing significantly to peace-building and normalcy in the Valley. His work reflects a commitment to strengthening communal harmony and building bridges across social and religious divides.

Through yoga, self-study, cultural education, and value-based training programmes, the Nagdandi Ashram continues to engage and integrate youth, inspiring them to embrace discipline, spirituality, service, and nation-building.
