Naranag temple reopened for devotees and tourists after security review: LG Manoj Sinha

Srinagar, June 20,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday announced that the historic Naranag Temple in Ganderbal district will be reopened for devotees and tourists following a comprehensive security assessment.

Sharing the development, the Lieutenant Governor said that the decision was taken after a thorough review of the security situation and necessary arrangements at the site.

“After thorough security review, decision has been taken to open the Naranag Temple at Ganderbal for devotees and tourists,” LG Manoj Sinha said.

The reopening of the ancient temple complex is expected to boost religious tourism and provide devotees an opportunity to visit one of Kashmir’s significant heritage and spiritual sites. Nestled amidst the scenic mountains of Ganderbal, the Naranag Temple is known for its historical and archaeological importance.

Authorities have made the required security and logistical arrangements to facilitate the safe movement of pilgrims and visitors. The administration has urged tourists and devotees to follow advisories and cooperate with officials during their visit.

The decision comes as Jammu and Kashmir witnesses a steady rise in tourist arrivals and religious tourism activities, with the administration focusing on preserving heritage sites while ensuring the safety of visitors.
