Kashmir Youth Earning Through Silkworm Farming
I live in Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir and along with studies I do part-time job in silkworm rearing or sericulture, said Danish Ahmad Laway. .Those who are sitting unemployed should take the benefit of Silk Samagra 2 scheme under HADP Earlier I used to work at home but I was facing the issue of inadequate space. Now, the Government has provided me with this shed and it is proving to be quite beneficial.
In Silk Samgra 2 scheme, we provide farmers rearing houses. We have established 52 rearing units in Kulgam, said an official. Those who did silkworm rearing from home saw a drop in quality and production. Now after we have supplied the rearing units, they have seen a betterment in hygienic action and crop and quantity. Unemployed youths are getting benefitted and generating income for themselves. Silkworm rearing happens twice in two years. Thus, it becomes a source of income for them. It is a good thing that youths are getting associated with the Department. Silkworm rearing is happening in all the 52 units. Thus the youths who are associated are generating their alternate source of income, the official stated.
