Baramulla, 12 June ,2026- In a significant healthcare outreach initiative aimed at improving access to quality eye care in remote areas, the Indian Army’s Dagger Division, in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, organised a free eye screening camp under Operation Drishti in Baramulla district.
The medical camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who availed themselves of comprehensive eye examinations conducted by a team of qualified ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals. The initiative focused on the early detection and treatment of various eye-related ailments, particularly among elderly citizens and economically disadvantaged sections of society.
During the camp, patients received detailed eye check-ups, consultations, and free medicines. Individuals diagnosed with serious eye conditions requiring advanced treatment or surgical intervention were referred to specialised healthcare facilities for free surgery and further medical care.
Local residents welcomed the initiative and praised the Indian Army and GMC Baramulla for bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the professional medical assistance and the opportunity to access treatment without financial burden.
Officials stated that Operation Drishti is part of ongoing efforts to enhance public healthcare outreach and strengthen civil-military cooperation in the region. The programme aims to address preventable vision problems and raise awareness about eye health among residents of far-flung areas.
The successful conduct of the camp reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to community welfare and its continued support for healthcare initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. Organisers noted that similar medical outreach programmes would continue to benefit residents across the region.
