Katra, June 10,2026- Amid soaring temperatures and an intense heatwave in Katra, authorities have put in place special measures to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims undertaking the pilgrimage to the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
To provide immediate medical assistance to devotees affected by the extreme weather conditions, a dedicated heat stroke room has been established at the base camp in Katra. The facility is equipped to handle heat-related emergencies and offer timely treatment to pilgrims in need.
Officials have also deployed ambulances at multiple locations along the yatra route to ensure swift medical response in case of emergencies. Medical teams and healthcare personnel have been placed on alert to assist devotees throughout the pilgrimage.
In addition, arrangements have been made for the distribution of ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) packets and drinking water to help pilgrims stay hydrated while trekking in the prevailing high temperatures.
Authorities have advised pilgrims to take adequate precautions, including consuming sufficient fluids, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and taking regular breaks during the journey. Devotees have also been urged to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or dehydration.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and local administration are closely monitoring the situation and continue to strengthen facilities to ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience despite the challenging weather conditions.
