CRPF launches massive plantation Drive in Udhampur on World Environment Day

Udhampur, June 6,2026- Marking World Environment Day, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a large-scale plantation drive in Udhampur to promote environmental conservation and create a cleaner, greener ecosystem.

The initiative aims to increase green cover, combat soil erosion, and raise awareness about environmental protection among the public. As part of the campaign, hundreds of saplings are being planted at strategic locations across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, CRPF Commandant Manoj Kumar Sikon said that the force has undertaken an extensive plantation programme in and around Udhampur.

“This week, we are planting 100 saplings in Sainik Park, 200 along the National Highway, and 300 plants on the hilly areas above the National Highway where soil erosion is taking place,” he said.

The Commandant highlighted that unseasonal rainfall and soil erosion often lead to damage to roads, residential areas, and public infrastructure. He noted that the plantation drive is aimed at strengthening the environment while also serving as a preventive measure against land degradation and erosion.

“Due to unseasonal rainfall and soil erosion, houses and roads get damaged. Through this initiative, we are planting saplings for the protection of the people and the environment,” he added.

The plantation campaign reflects CRPF’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare. Officials believe that increasing vegetation cover in vulnerable areas will help stabilize soil, reduce the risk of landslides, and contribute to long-term ecological balance in the region.

The drive also aligns with broader efforts to promote environmental awareness and encourage public participation in protecting natural resources for future generations.
