Kashmir, June 4,2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that Jammu & Kashmir has, for centuries, represented the spirit of “Sarva Dharma Sambhav” (equal respect for all religions) and continues to stand as one of the finest examples of coexistence, unity, and communal harmony in the world.
Addressing a gathering, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the region’s rich civilizational heritage and its long-standing tradition of fostering mutual respect among people belonging to different faiths, cultures, and communities. He said Jammu & Kashmir’s social fabric has been strengthened by values of tolerance, inclusiveness, and brotherhood, which have been passed down through generations.
LG Sinha emphasized that the essence of Jammu & Kashmir lies in its diverse yet united society, where people from different religious backgrounds have lived together peacefully for centuries. He noted that the region’s composite culture reflects the ideals of harmony, compassion, and shared humanity.
Referring to the concept of “Sarva Dharma Sambhav,” the Lieutenant Governor said it remains deeply embedded in the ethos of Jammu & Kashmir and continues to guide society towards peace and collective progress. He stressed the importance of preserving these values and passing them on to future generations.
The Lieutenant Governor also underscored the role of citizens, religious leaders, and social institutions in strengthening communal harmony and promoting mutual understanding. He said that unity and social cohesion are essential for the continued development and prosperity of the Union Territory.
His remarks come at a time when Jammu & Kashmir is witnessing growing social and economic transformation, with efforts focused on fostering inclusive development while preserving the region’s unique cultural and spiritual heritage.
