Kashmir, June 4,2026-Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to chair a high-level review meeting in New Delhi on June 8 to assess preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The meeting will be attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officials from the Union Home Ministry, security agencies, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

The review comes ahead of the annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine, which attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country. The meeting is expected to focus on security arrangements, infrastructure readiness, healthcare facilities, transportation, disaster management, and overall coordination among various agencies involved in the yatra.

Officials are likely to present detailed reports on the preparedness of both the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter Baltal route. Special emphasis will be placed on ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims, considering the large number of yatris expected to participate this year.

The Home Minister is also expected to review the deployment of security forces, surveillance measures, traffic management plans, and emergency response mechanisms. Discussions may include the status of accommodation facilities, sanitation, communication networks, and weather-related contingency planning along the pilgrimage routes.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials are expected to brief the Union Home Minister on the progress of ongoing preparations and measures being undertaken to facilitate a smooth and secure pilgrimage.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of India’s most significant religious pilgrimages and holds immense spiritual importance for devotees. Every year, extensive arrangements are made by the administration and security agencies to ensure the successful conduct of the yatra in the challenging terrain of the Himalayas.

The June 8 review meeting is expected to provide the final roadmap for coordination among all stakeholders and reinforce efforts to ensure a safe, peaceful, and well-managed pilgrimage season.
