Amarnath Yatra 2026 security preparation in full swing, over 670 CAPF companies to be deployed

Kashmir , May 28,2026- Ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra 2026, security preparations across Jammu and Kashmir have been intensified with the deployment of more than 670 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for lakhs of devotees expected this year.

Authorities have initiated multi-layered security arrangements along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, with increased surveillance, area domination exercises, convoy protection, drone monitoring, and round-the-clock patrolling. Senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir administration, Police, Army, CRPF, and other security agencies are closely coordinating efforts ahead of the yatra.

The administration is also focusing on emergency response systems, traffic management, medical facilities, disaster preparedness, and communication networks to facilitate pilgrims during the pilgrimage period. Special checkpoints and high-tech monitoring systems are being established at key locations to strengthen security.

Officials said the deployment of over 670 CAPF companies reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring peaceful and incident-free conduct of the yatra amid heightened vigilance in the region.

The annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath is one of the largest religious events in the country and attracts devotees from across India and abroad every year.
