Anantnag, May 22,2026- Deputy Commissioner Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting at the DC Office Anantnag to review arrangements for the smooth observance of Eid-ul-Adha across the district.
The meeting was attended by senior officers including the SP, ADC, SE PHE, ACR, SDMs, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Fisheries Officer, Executive Engineer KPDCL, ARTO, officials from FCS&CA, Fire & Emergency Services, Legal Metrology, Traffic Police, Waqf Board, Municipal Committees and other concerned departments.
At the outset, officers briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the preparations and facilities being put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the holy festival.
Addressing the meeting, the DC said it is essential that devotees and the general public are properly facilitated so they can observe the holy occasion with ease and convenience. He directed all departments to ensure coordinated efforts for providing essential services during Eid-ul-Adha.
Special focus was laid on arrangements at major religious places including Khiram Dargah Shareef, Aishmuqam Shrine, Kabamarg, Reshmool, Seer Hamdan, Eidgahs, mosques, and other places of congregation where large gatherings are expected during the festival.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department and KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply across the district. In view of the prevailing high temperatures, the Jal Shakti Department was instructed to keep adequate water tankers available at critical locations.
Emphasising the importance of availability of essential commodities during the festive days, the DC directed the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department to maintain sufficient stocks of rice, atta, sugar, and other daily essentials in the district.
He also instructed authorities to intensify market checking drives to ensure the quality and availability of bakery items, confectionery, milk, meat, chicken, vegetables, and other essential commodities. The DC stressed that joint inspections of shops and manufacturing units should be conducted to ensure quality edible items are sold at fair prices.
Officials informed the meeting that adequate stocks of sacrificial animals, including sheep and goats, are available in the district. The Animal Husbandry Department and poultry officials also assured sufficient poultry stock to meet public demand during the festive period.
Municipal authorities were directed to conduct sanitation drives around mosques, shrines, Eidgahs, marketplaces, and residential areas. The DC instructed departments to designate teams and collection points for proper disposal of offal, hides, and waste to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in both urban and rural areas.
Directions were also issued for ensuring seamless transport facilities, traffic regulation, deployment of fire and emergency services, and adequate security arrangements around major religious places and marketplaces.
The Health Department was asked to deploy medical teams at important locations to provide immediate healthcare assistance during large gatherings.
For effective monitoring, all SDMs were instructed to establish control rooms in their respective subdivisions to facilitate smooth observance of Eid-ul-Adha and address public grievances promptly.
