Katra, May 21,2026 Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the government and social organisations to empower the younger generation and ensure better welfare initiatives for children across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering in Katra after laying the foundation stone for Akshaya Patra Foundation’s centralized kitchen facility, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the importance of providing balanced and nutritious meals to school children.
He said every child deserves access to healthy food and emphasized that collective efforts are needed to ensure that no child is left behind.
“I urged stronger collaboration between the Government and social organisations to empower the younger generation. We must ensure that school children receive balanced, nourishing meals. Every child deserves access to healthy food and we need to make sure no child is left behind,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The newly proposed centralized kitchen facility by the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Katra is expected to significantly strengthen mid-day meal support for students in the region. Once operational, the facility will provide around 5,000 nutritious meals daily to school children.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the efforts of the Akshaya Patra Foundation in supporting child nutrition and education through its large-scale meal programmes across the country. He also spoke about the organisation’s future projects in Jammu and Kashmir aimed at expanding welfare and nutrition initiatives for children.
The event witnessed participation from officials, representatives of social organisations, education sector stakeholders, and local residents.
The initiative is expected to contribute towards improving child health, school attendance, and overall educational outcomes in the region while reinforcing the government’s commitment to child welfare and youth empowerment.
