Thousands continue Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra amid severe heatwave in Katra

Katra, May 21,2026-Even as temperatures soar beyond 38°C in Katra, the unwavering faith of devotees visiting the revered shrine of Vaishno Devi Temple continues to shine brightly. Every day, nearly 30,000 to 35,000 pilgrims are undertaking the sacred journey through the Trikuta hills to seek blessings at the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.

Despite the intense summer heat gripping the region, devotees from different parts of the country are arriving in large numbers at Katra, the base camp for the annual pilgrimage. The uphill trek resonates with continuous chants of “Jai Mata Di,” reflecting the deep spiritual devotion and enthusiasm of the pilgrims.

Authorities and shrine management have strengthened arrangements to ensure the safety and comfort of devotees amid the rising temperatures. Medical camps, water facilities, resting points, and sanitation services have been enhanced along the pilgrimage route to help yatris complete their journey comfortably.

The pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi remains one of the most significant spiritual journeys in India, attracting millions of devotees every year. Pilgrims say that faith and devotion give them the strength to endure difficult weather conditions and complete the sacred trek.

Officials have also advised devotees to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary exertion during peak afternoon hours, and follow safety guidelines issued by the administration. Security personnel, health workers, and volunteers continue to remain deployed along the route to manage the heavy rush of pilgrims.

As the summer season intensifies across Jammu & Kashmir, the steady flow of devotees to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine highlights the enduring spiritual connection and unwavering belief associated with one of the country’s most revered Hindu pilgrimage destinations.
