Kupwara , May 14,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex at SM Hill in Tangdhar, Karnah area of Kupwara district, marking a significant step toward promoting battlefield tourism, heritage preservation, and border area development in Jammu & Kashmir.
The newly developed complex has been established to honour the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives defending the nation in the strategically important border region. The initiative aims to preserve the legacy of the armed forces while creating awareness among visitors and younger generations about the courage displayed by soldiers in safeguarding the country.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony, LG Manoj Sinha said the bravery and sacrifice of India’s soldiers should remain a lasting source of pride and inspiration for every citizen. He emphasized that such memorial projects play an important role in connecting people with the nation’s military history and patriotic values.
The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the efforts of the Northern Command, Chinar Corps, and the officers involved for the timely completion of the project.
Officials stated that the ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex is expected to emerge as a key attraction under Jammu & Kashmir’s growing battlefield tourism sector. The initiative is also aimed at boosting local tourism, generating economic opportunities, and highlighting the strategic and historical importance of border areas like Tangdhar and Karnah.
The project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure and promote tourism in remote border regions of Jammu & Kashmir while preserving the stories of valour associated with the armed forces.
Local residents and visitors welcomed the inauguration, calling it a tribute to the nation’s heroes and a meaningful addition to the cultural and tourism landscape of Kupwara district.
