Shopian, May 14,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha arrived in Shopian on Wednesday to inaugurate the newly constructed Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, a major addition to the sports infrastructure of South Kashmir.
The inauguration ceremony at Arihama is expected to witness participation from local officials, sportspersons, youth representatives, and residents from across the district. The modern indoor sports facility has been developed to promote athletic talent and encourage greater youth participation in sports activities in the region.
The visit of the Lieutenant Governor is being viewed as part of the administration’s continued focus on strengthening sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for young athletes in Jammu & Kashmir. Officials said the stadium will provide a professional platform for indoor sporting events, training camps, and youth competitions.
The inauguration also coincides with the launch of the South Kashmir Volleyball League 2026, which is set to bring together teams from multiple districts and showcase emerging volleyball talent from across the Valley.
Local residents welcomed the development, stating that the new facility will inspire youth to actively participate in sports and channel their energy toward positive and constructive activities.
The administration has been actively promoting sports, youth engagement, and anti-drug awareness campaigns across Jammu & Kashmir, with several new stadiums, playgrounds, and sports initiatives being introduced in recent years.
The Multipurpose Indoor Stadium at Arihama is expected to become a key sporting hub for Shopian and neighbouring districts, boosting grassroots sports development in South Kashmir.
