DSEK ignites ‘Innovation Mashal’ from Uri border school to spark Scientific temper among students

Baramulla, May 12, 2026-The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) launched the ‘Innovation Mashal’ initiative from a border school in Uri, Baramulla, with the aim of promoting scientific temper, creativity, and innovation among students across Kashmir.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of education officials, teachers, students, and local representatives, marking the beginning of a campaign focused on encouraging young minds to explore science, technology, and innovative learning practices.

Officials said the ‘Innovation Mashal’ initiative seeks to create awareness about scientific thinking and foster curiosity-driven education among students, particularly in remote and border areas. The campaign aims to inspire students to participate in research-based learning, innovation projects, science exhibitions, and problem-solving activities.

Speaking on the occasion, DSEK officials highlighted the importance of nurturing creativity and innovation among school students to prepare them for future challenges and opportunities. They said scientific temper plays a crucial role in building progressive societies and empowering youth through knowledge and critical thinking.

Students showcased innovative models, science projects, and creative ideas during the event, reflecting enthusiasm and active participation in technology and science-related activities. Teachers also emphasized the need to provide supportive platforms where students can freely express ideas and develop practical skills.

The officials stated that the ‘Innovation Mashal’ will travel to different schools across Kashmir to encourage scientific awareness, promote experiential learning, and strengthen innovation culture in educational institutions.

The initiative received appreciation from students and educators, who termed it an important step towards enhancing quality education and promoting innovation in schools, especially in border and rural areas.
