Srinagar , May 11, 2026- The newly launched Vande Bharat Express service connecting Kashmir with other parts of the country has witnessed an overwhelming response from passengers, with more than 40,000 people travelling on the route within just nine days of its operation.
Officials associated with the railway authorities said the Vande Bharat trains operating on the Kashmir route have recorded high occupancy since their inauguration, reflecting growing public enthusiasm for the much-awaited rail connectivity in the Valley.
The train service, which operates between key stations in Jammu and Kashmir, has significantly reduced travel time while offering passengers modern facilities, improved comfort and all-weather connectivity.
Passengers travelling on the route expressed satisfaction over the smooth travel experience, scenic journey and enhanced convenience provided by the Vande Bharat trains. Many said the service has made travel easier for tourists, students, traders and local residents.
Railway officials noted that the increasing passenger footfall highlights the importance of railway connectivity for the socio-economic development of Jammu & Kashmir. The service is also expected to boost tourism and business activities across the region during the peak summer season.
The Vande Bharat train service forms part of the government’s larger effort to strengthen transport infrastructure and improve connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir through modern railway projects.
