5th Jammu film festival set for september showcase

Jammu, May 5,2026- The 5th edition of the Jammu Film Festival is set to take place on September 28–29, 2026, in Jammu, bringing together filmmakers, artists, and cinema enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

The festival is being jointly organised by VOMEDH and Avanti Foundation. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Jammu Press Club.

Speaking at the event, Rohit Bhatt said the upcoming edition will feature a diverse lineup of international film screenings, while continuing its commitment to promoting regional cinema, particularly films in Dogri and Kashmiri languages.

To encourage filmmakers and recognise excellence, the organisers have announced a cash prize of ₹1 lakh for the best feature film in the competition category. The festival is expected to attract entries from both national and international filmmakers, offering a platform for storytelling rooted in culture and contemporary themes.

Rohit Bhatt further noted that this marks the fifth edition of the festival in Jammu and the eighth overall across Jammu and Kashmir, with previous editions successfully held in both regions. Over the years, the festival has grown into an important cultural event, fostering creativity and providing exposure to emerging talent.

The Jammu Film Festival aims to strengthen the film culture in the Union Territory, offering a space for dialogue, artistic exchange, and collaboration among filmmakers, critics, and audiences. It also seeks to highlight local narratives and bring regional stories to a wider audience.

With preparations underway, the 2026 edition promises to be a significant cultural showcase, reinforcing Jammu and Kashmir’s growing presence in the cinematic landscape.
