DC Pulwama gives instructions for sports stadium at Youth Engagement Programme meeting their needs

We have had only one demand since the last 15-20 years to have a cricket stadium in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, pleaded the youth at the Youth Engagement Programme. There are many players from here who have played the nationals. I have played two national games, said the Pulwama youth. Three times I have represented my district Pulwama for the nationals. To play cricket we have to travel far and it costs us Rs 1000 for a day. We have requested the DC for a cricket stadium so that we can practise before a match. The youth here have been struggling for the past 5-10 years. Now the DC will solve this issue and the youth were grateful that he came and listened to their problems, the youth said. DC Pulwama, Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary said that the demands of the youth will be met. He instructed the ACD, ACP and BDO officers present at the meeting to make a DPR of the sports field project within a week and start the tendering process for allotment of the project. A good stadium should be constructed for the youth to play in the coming future, he instructed the officers. The youth of Pulwama said that the administration is doing a good job coming forward and giving a platform to the youth and meeting their requirements for sports and during exams. For the last three years, the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and the district administration together are supporting the youth in every way. During the Khelo India programme in Pulwama, DC Baseer-ul-Haq helped a lot, recalled the youth. The DC said, why youth is important as they will play a vital role be it education, water supply, agriculture or in sports field. The Lieutenant Governor is also close to the youth and as per his directions the administration is working out how the youth can participate maximum in various activities in the coming times. How the efficiency of the essential services can be increased. And how to increase participation of the people in the planning process. Earlier, the planning process happened in offices. Now the Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat will approve on the ground level. This participation which is ‘Jan Bhagidaari’ should be seen in plan as well as implementation so that the needs and aspirations of the people are fulfilled, said the DC of Pulwama.
