Srinagar, May 4,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday described athletes as powerful “brand ambassadors” of the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign, urging them to lead the fight against drug abuse and inspire youth across the Union Territory.
The Lieutenant Governor made these remarks after arriving at the University of Kashmir to attend the All India Inter-University Wushu Championship, where participants from across the country gathered to showcase their sporting excellence.
Addressing the athletes and officials, Sinha emphasized that sports play a crucial role in shaping discipline, resilience, and a healthy lifestyle. “Athletes have a significant influence on society, especially the youth. They must act as role models and actively promote the message of a drug-free India,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign, the Lieutenant Governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace from Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that awareness, community participation, and strict action against drug networks are key pillars of the campaign.
Sinha also lauded the आयोजन of the Wushu championship, stating that such national-level sporting events not only promote fitness and competitive spirit but also strengthen unity and cultural exchange among students from different regions.
Participants expressed enthusiasm over the Lieutenant Governor’s presence, calling it a morale boost and a reminder of the larger social responsibility that comes with being an athlete.
