Anantnag admin demolishes drug peddlers’ Illegal properties in sangam crackdown

Anantnag, April 29,2026- In a major crackdown on violators of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the District Administration Anantnag, in coordination with police, carried out a large-scale demolition drive targeting illegal properties of drug peddlers in Sangam, Bijbehara.

The action forms part of the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K campaign, aimed at eliminating drug abuse and narcotics trade from society.

During the operation, revenue authorities led by the SDM and Tehsildar Bijbehara, along with a police team headed by the SDPO Bijbehara, identified multiple commercial establishments — including Kashmir Restaurant, Taj Restaurant, and MIR Restaurant — that had been illegally constructed on state land and were allegedly linked to individuals involved in narcotics trafficking.

Officials said several FIRs had already been registered against the accused. These unauthorized structures, located along National Highway 44, were reportedly being used to facilitate illegal activities and promote substance abuse.

The demolition drive also ensured retrieval of encroached state land, with authorities removing the structures in a coordinated effort with local police.

The administration reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling and related illegal activities, asserting that strict legal action will continue against offenders. Authorities have directed field officials to maintain heightened vigilance, while urging the public to support the mission of making Anantnag a drug-free district.
