Kashmir Ahead

Samba, April 29,2026- In a significant boost to healthcare services, the Government Emergency Hospital Vijaypur has successfully performed its first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Samba.

The procedure was carried out on Rajni Devi, a resident of Rajpura, who had been suffering from gall bladder stones. Doctors opted for laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive technique that ensures smaller incisions, reduced post-operative pain, and quicker recovery.

Hospital authorities described the achievement as a major milestone in upgrading surgical capabilities at the facility. They noted that introducing advanced procedures like laparoscopic cholecystectomy will reduce the need for patients to travel to larger hospitals for specialized care.

The patient expressed satisfaction with the treatment, highlighting that the surgery was conducted free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Officials said the development reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical services in the region.
