Kishtwar, April 29,2026- The Agriculture Department Kishtwar has launched a major initiative to support local farmers by distributing 7,500 hybrid seedlings of tomato, brinjal, and marigold on a subsidized basis across Kishtwar.
To facilitate smooth and convenient distribution, dedicated sale centres have been established at Chatroo, Padder, Mughalmaidan, and the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kishtwar.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at boosting vegetable production in the district’s hilly terrain, where farming conditions are often challenging. By promoting the cultivation of high-yield hybrid varieties, the department seeks to encourage crop diversification and improve the economic condition of farmers.
The move is also expected to enhance nutritional security in rural areas by increasing the availability of fresh vegetables. Farmers have been advised to collect the seedlings from their nearest distribution centres and adopt recommended agricultural practices to ensure better productivity and returns.
The Agriculture Department expressed confidence that the initiative will contribute to sustainable agricultural growth in the region while strengthening farmers’ livelihoods.
