Srinagar, April 26, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the Chintan Shivir organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in Srinagar, emphasizing a strategic roadmap to transform India into a global sporting superpower.
During his address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted key policy challenges in the sports sector and stressed the importance of strengthening Centre–State coordination to ensure effective implementation of sports initiatives across the country. He underlined the need for a unified approach to build world-class sports infrastructure and nurture talent at the grassroots level.
LG Manoj Sinha called for focused efforts to identify young athletes early, provide them with modern training facilities, and ensure international exposure to enhance their competitive edge. He also emphasized the role of technology, data-driven training methods, and professional governance in elevating India’s performance in global sporting events.
The discussions at the Shivir brought together policymakers, sports administrators, and experts, who collectively deliberated on fostering a strong sports culture, increasing youth participation, and integrating sports into education systems.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Lieutenant Governor said that empowering youth through sports will play a crucial role in nation-building and positioning India as a dominant force in international sports.
The Srinagar event marks a significant step towards aligning national and regional efforts, reinforcing the vision of a vibrant and globally competitive sports ecosystem in India.
