Kashmir, April 25, 2026- In a significant push to position Jammu & Kashmir as a premier filming destination, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah interacted with leading filmmakers and industry stakeholders in Bengaluru, highlighting the Union Territory’s unmatched scenic beauty, cultural richness, and evolving film-friendly ecosystem.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister emphasized that Jammu & Kashmir offers diverse natural landscapes, ranging from snow-clad mountains and lush valleys to serene lakes and heritage sites—making it an ideal canvas for filmmakers across genres. He noted that iconic locations like Srinagar, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg have long been favorites for cinematic storytelling.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Omar Abdullah assured filmmakers of full administrative support, simplified permissions, and a secure environment to facilitate smooth shooting schedules. He underlined that proactive steps are being taken to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and create a single-window clearance system for film projects.
“The government is dedicated to making Jammu & Kashmir a vibrant hub for the film industry. We are building an enabling environment where creativity thrives and filmmakers feel supported at every step,” the Chief Minister said, according to the Office of Chief Minister, J&K.
The interaction also focused on strengthening collaborations between the film industry and local talent, with an aim to generate employment opportunities and boost the region’s creative economy. Officials highlighted ongoing efforts to promote film tourism, revive cinema culture, and showcase Kashmiri art, music, and traditions on global platforms.
Industry representatives welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism about renewed opportunities in the region. The outreach in Bengaluru is seen as part of a broader strategy to attract major film productions and re-establish Jammu & Kashmir as one of India’s top filming destinations.
