AMRUT 2.0 project to strengthen drinking water supply in Billawar

Kathua,April 23,2026- Work under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme is progressing swiftly in the Municipal Committee of Billawar to enhance the region’s drinking water supply infrastructure.

The project, estimated at around ₹9 crore, includes the installation of a new tube well, construction of four water storage tanks with capacities of 20,000, 50,000, and 10,000 gallons, along with the development of a modern water treatment plant, upgraded intake system, and a network of new pipelines.

Officials said the initiative will extend new water connections to nearly 1,200 households, significantly improving access to safe and consistent drinking water. The upgraded system is expected to ensure a reliable and regular water supply, addressing long-standing issues faced by residents.

Once completed, the project will bring substantial relief to the people of Billawar and marks a key step in strengthening urban infrastructure and public service delivery in Jammu and Kashmir.
