DC Rajesh Sharma reviews Kathua’s Amarnath Yatra 2026 readiness

Kathua, April 18,2026- In a comprehensive review meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma assessed the preparedness of various departments for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, directing officials to ensure timely completion of all necessary arrangements to facilitate a smooth and safe pilgrimage.

The meeting focused on key infrastructural and logistical aspects, particularly the beautification of the Lakhanpur corridor, which serves as an important gateway for pilgrims entering Jammu & Kashmir. Officials were instructed to expedite ongoing works and maintain high standards in execution.

Emphasis was also laid on upgrading lodgement centres, improving road connectivity, and strengthening essential services such as sanitation, drinking water supply, and uninterrupted power. The Deputy Commissioner stressed that all facilities must be pilgrim-friendly and adhere to quality benchmarks.

Highlighting the importance of coordination, Sharma directed departments to ensure timely tendering processes and seamless inter-departmental collaboration. He underscored that proactive planning and execution are critical to managing the large influx of devotees expected during the Yatra.

Officials were further asked to ensure adequate accommodation arrangements, clean and hygienic surroundings, and efficient service delivery at all transit and resting points across Kathua district.

The administration reiterated its commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching experience for pilgrims undertaking the revered Amarnath Yatra.
