Doda, April 11,2026- Road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is progressing rapidly in Doda district, significantly enhancing rural connectivity and improving access to remote areas.
Officials said that a majority of villages in the district have already been connected under the scheme, while work is ongoing to link the remaining habitations in a phased manner. The improved road network is expected to ease transportation, boost local economy, and ensure better access to healthcare, education, and markets for rural communities.
MLA Doda West Shakti Raj Parihar appreciated the Central Government and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh for sanctioning key road projects in the district. He noted that the initiative has played a vital role in transforming infrastructure in far-flung areas.
However, the MLA also raised concerns over the poor maintenance of roads after construction. He highlighted the lack of proper monitoring mechanisms, which has led to the deterioration of some stretches, urging authorities to ensure timely upkeep and quality control.
The PMGSY initiative continues to be a crucial driver of rural development in Jammu & Kashmir, with ongoing efforts focused on strengthening connectivity and ensuring long-term sustainability of infrastructure.
