LG Manoj Sinha launches drug-free J&K campaign

Jammu, April 11, 2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday launched a historic mass movement for a Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir from MA Stadium in Jammu, giving a powerful call for collective action to eradicate the drug menace from the Union Territory.

Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha said the campaign is a people-driven movement that will reach every village, town, and household, transforming the fight against substance abuse into a collective mission. He stressed that the initiative goes beyond policy, aiming to inspire a societal change.

Highlighting the roadmap, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the next three months will be pivotal, with the campaign advancing in six structured phases—awareness drives, youth-focused programmes, community engagement, strict enforcement, rehabilitation, and evaluation.

He emphasized a whole-of-government approach, ensuring coordinated efforts across departments to tackle drug abuse effectively. “We will not allow any youth, family, or dream to fall into the dark abyss of addiction,” he asserted.

Underscoring the human impact, LG Manoj Sinha noted that drug addiction is not just about statistics but reflects the pain and struggles of families. He called upon citizens to actively participate, stating that the fight against drugs is a shared responsibility and a collective crisis.

The campaign aims to strengthen awareness, enhance enforcement, and expand rehabilitation support, setting the stage for a safer and healthier Jammu & Kashmir.
