World Health Day observed across Kashmir with focus on public health and wellness

Srinagar, April 7,2026- World Health Day was observed across Kashmir with a series of awareness programmes, health camps, and community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting public health and well-being. The events witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals, students, and local residents, highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare and healthy living.

Organised by the Health Department Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with various district administrations, the celebrations focused on raising awareness about lifestyle diseases, mental health, and the importance of regular health check-ups. Free medical camps were set up in several areas, offering consultations, diagnostic services, and distribution of essential medicines.

Doctors and health experts stressed the need for balanced diets, regular exercise, and timely medical intervention to prevent chronic illnesses. Special sessions were also conducted in schools and colleges to educate youth about hygiene, nutrition, and the risks associated with substance abuse.

On the occasion of World Health Day, officials reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible and affordable medical services across Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasis was laid on community participation in achieving better health outcomes and building a healthier society.

Awareness rallies and interactive programmes were held in districts including Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, and Kupwara, where participants carried placards and shared messages promoting health consciousness. The initiative also underscored the significance of early detection and treatment in reducing the burden of diseases.

World Health Day serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to prioritize health and well-being. In Kashmir, the day was marked by a renewed commitment from both authorities and citizens to work towards a healthier and more resilient community.
