Kathua, April 4,2026-The Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision process is currently underway across Kathua district under the supervision of the State Election Commission Jammu and Kashmir, covering 512 villages and 244 Panchayats.
The comprehensive revision exercise aims to ensure that all eligible voters are accurately included in the electoral rolls ahead of the 2026 Panchayat elections. Officials stated that individuals who will attain the age of 18 years on or before April 1, 2026, are eligible to register as new voters.
To facilitate the process, dedicated teams comprising election staff, Panchayat secretaries, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed across the district. These teams are actively assisting residents in verifying existing entries, registering new voters, and making necessary corrections in the voter lists.
Special emphasis is being laid on reaching remote and rural populations to ensure inclusivity and transparency in the electoral process. Authorities have also encouraged citizens to actively participate in the revision drive and avail the services being provided at designated centers and camps.
The ongoing exercise reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots democracy by ensuring a free, fair, and inclusive electoral system across Jammu and Kashmir.
