Srinagar, March 16,2026- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday inaugurated the iconic Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, recognized as Asia’s largest tulip garden, marking the beginning of the much-awaited tulip bloom season in the Kashmir Valley.
Located on the foothills of the majestic Zabarwan Range and overlooking the famous Dal Lake, the garden has once again opened its gates to visitors and tourists from across the country and abroad. The vibrant display of millions of blooming tulips in a variety of colors is expected to attract thousands of tourists to Srinagar in the coming weeks.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said the tulip garden has become one of the biggest attractions for spring tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that such initiatives not only showcase the natural beauty of Kashmir but also help strengthen the region’s tourism sector and local economy.
Officials from the tourism and floriculture departments were also present during the event. They expressed hope that the garden would witness a record footfall this season, as the tulip bloom coincides with the peak spring tourism period in the Valley.
The annual tulip bloom has become a signature spring festival for Kashmir, drawing photographers, nature lovers, and travelers eager to witness the breathtaking carpet of colorful flowers set against the scenic Himalayan backdrop.
