The 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2023 was presented by the National School of Drama in collaboration with the University of Jammu at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu and Kashmir. Theatre is a living experience for any artist, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. The National School of Drama’s long history bears witness to the joy that the artists derive from theatre. We can never see that on the cinema screen, LG remarked. All of life’s experiences are presented through the depths of art in the theatres. The artists experience reaching the climax. In our country’s ancient tradition, theatre has been called the ‘Pancham Veda’ or the Fifth Veda. India’s cultural heritage and ancient tradition was enjoyed through the medium of theatres in Jammu. Srinagar’s Theatre-In-Education Centre will be organising theatre and production workshops in schools and colleges in different districts in Kashmir Valley, said the Lieutenant Governor. Srinagar Centre will be organising a one-year diploma course for students. Efforts should be made to provide the same platform to the artists of Jammu, LG said.
